Dr Ciara Sutherland

Dr. Ciara Sutherland runs “Gentle Aesthetics” here at the clinic. “Aesthetics” describes treatments for wrinkle reduction and facial fillers. Ciara is also one of the dentists here at the Gentle Touch.

Training

Ciara graduated from University College Cork, Ireland in 2008. Having worked in dentistry for 13 years, it is still her main passion. Over recent years, she has also widened her focus into the world of facial aesthetics.

Aesthetics can only legally be performed by a dentist, doctor or nurse. It is a perfect fit for a dentist as they already have an extensive knowledge of facial anatomy. They know where every blood vessel, muscle and nerve sit! Dentists are also incredibly comfortable with giving injections- it’s what they do every day!

Ciara Sutherland is passionate about further education. She has gained membership into both the faculty of general dental practitioners as well as the Royal College of Surgeons. Ciara has taken numerous further educational courses in Aesthetics. Through this, she has trained with some of the world’s most highly respected aesthetic practitioners.

Approach with patients

Ciara’s patients always commend her on her calm approach and her ability to put nervous patients at ease. In fact, that was one of the main reasons why she was awarded Scotland’s Dentist of The Year in 2017. Ciara was the youngest dentist ever to scoop the award!

Ciara has already struck up a great connection with her patients in Kelso. Many have commented on her friendliness combined with her professionalism and ability to explain everything. This is what keeps them coming back. Also, her approach to aesthetics is one of subtlety. You will not find the frozen face look or the big fake pout here. This “gentle aesthetics” philosophy has really appealed to the Borders. A “tweakment” is all it will be!

When Ciara is not smoothing the faces of Kelso, or helping to care for their teeth, she is looking after her three young children. She lives with her husband and kids at the family farm near Lauder.
