Ms Michelle Paxton

Dental Therapist

BSc Oral Health Science (distinction) Highlands and Islands (2013)

GDC 130398

Michelle Paxton spent the first 8 years of her career as a Dental Nurse. She then studied at the University of the Highlands and Islands for a degree in Oral Health Sciences. Michelle graduated in 2013 with distinction as a dual qualified Dental Hygienist and Dental Therapist.

Michelle has experience working within both NHS and private practices in the Borders and Edinburgh. She is very passionate about keeping her knowledge and skills up to date. As part of this, she attends the Dentistry show in Birmingham every year. To keep her knowledge 100% up to date, Michelle takes courses throughout the year. Recent topics include:

  • Composite Bonding – improving the appearance of front teeth using tooth-coloured filling material
  • Posterior Composites – tooth-coloured fillings for back teeth
  • Periodontal Disease – gum disease screening and treatment.

Michelle Paxton loves treating all ages and carrying out all treatments within her scope of practice. She especially loves providing treatment for children and making them feel at ease. Michelle travelled to Cambodia in 2018 as a volunteer with Dentaid. Her work provided emergency and preventive care to children in need who had no access to dental care. It’s something she would love to do again one day.

Outside of work Michelle is kept busy with her daughters Maycie and Orla.
