We are a friendly, modern and professional dentist in the Scottish Borders. Our fantastic team consists of three highly trained dentists, an implant practitioner, facial aesthetics practitioner, two dental therapists and a dental hygienist and are fortunate to be supported by an outstanding dental nurse and treatments team.
All of us at The Gentle Touch are firm believers in a preventative approach to your dental care. By preventing problems in your mouth before they arise, you’ll benefit from healthier teeth and gums. It will also mean gentler dental treatment for you over the years.
As well as the essentials you’d expect from your dentist, we also offer cosmetic dental services and advanced treatments. These include teeth whitening and teeth straightening. We also offer dental implants for patients looking for solutions for missing teeth. Emergency dental appointments are available daily for members. Finally, we run a facial aesthetics clinic – Gentle Aesthetics – appointments and consultations are available.
Initially, I was very nervous about the prospect of having implants to restore the gaps caused by previous extractions. However, I felt better with the support received by Amber in tandem with the support from Vermilion. My mouth feels so much better now and all my teeth feel stronger with the support of the implants.
Being able to have follow-up appointments and treatment in Kelso will also save me the trips up to Edinburgh (see our news page for further information). I feel I have been very well supported throughout the process by Amber and her team at the Kelso dental practice. They have a friendly and professional approach which put me at ease throughout my treatment.”CD
“I joined The Gentle Touch one year ago. Walked into the practice and was greeted by friendly and welcoming receptionists.
Having had a couple of appointments with the hygienist at The Gentle Touch, I have been made to feel relaxed throughout and did not feel any pain or discomfort. During my first appointment with Robyn, I was given information about cleaning between my teeth as well as my toothbrushing technique, which I had never had from my previous dentist/ hygienist. At my last visit with her, she said that she could see a noticeable improvement in my gums.
On seeing Amber for my examination, she confirmed this, saying my mouth was in a better condition than it had been 6 months previous. I think the information given to me has been fantastic and very useful to my dental health.”AC
“For the past five or six years, since our move to Kelso, we’ve been delighted with the quality of all the work done at The Gentle Touch practice. Appointments scheduled are very much kept to time, and yet the practice is only too helpful if there’s a sudden emergency; a loose crown, a lost filling or whatever. The system of six-monthly check-ups works well, and appointments can generally be scheduled for the hygienist on the same day.
In the past year, I’ve had a couple of implants, and the whole process, from early consultation through to completion, was handled very efficiently; with carefulness and practical explanations. My dentist, Amber Aplin, has a welcoming manner and the necessary artistic skill to make the final result seem both comfortable and convincing.
I’m delighted to recommend the practice to anyone who wishes the most professional of service allied to the aim to get things absolutely right for each patient.”JSR
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic dental nurse to join our experienced and friendly team at the Gentle Touch Dental Practice. We can offer a GDC registered and qualified dental nurse 3-4 days per week and the role will include some reception and administration duties.
Clare Crocker, our Dental Hygienist, shares her advice on how to find the best electric toothbrush or water flosser. Here, she answers some of the most frequently asked questions in the clinic: "what's the best toothbrush for me?" and "what about floss?". Clare can help you to choose the right products for your twice-daily toothbrushing routine.
Our practice mission statement is to provide patient-focused, holistic dentistry in a gentle and caring way.
We pride ourselves in making our patients feel at ease. From the moment you walk into the practice and meet our welcoming reception team, to when meeting any of our friendly clinicians. We want to make your visit gentle and relaxing; many patients comment that their visit was a pleasure!
If you are looking for a new dentist in the Scottish Borders, or you would like more information about the practice, please contact us. We are currently accepting new patients for general dentistry as well as cosmetic dentistry.
As a complimentary service and on a no-obligation basis, you can arrange an ‘introductory appointment’ with our patient care co-ordinator Caroline Borthwick. She will listen to your queries, concerns and aspirations in a non-clinical environment, then talk you through how we can help.
We firmly believe in a preventive approach to dental care. Looking after your teeth with regular check-ups, hygiene treatments and monitoring can negate the need for expensive treatments down the line. That’s why all of our adult patients are registered with one of our preventive care plans (the best plan is recommended by your dentist).
