Join us: Dental Hygienist role available

Thu, 31st Aug 2023

We are growing our practice at the Gentle Touch, and we also have some maternity leave to cover. We are looking for a dental hygienist 2-3 days a week maternity cover and 2 days a week on offer permanently. We will also consider Dental Therapists with a strong interest in dental hygiene including Airflow treatments.

Please do get in touch if you’d like some more info, and if you’d like to have an informal chat in the first instance!

What’s it like to work as a dental hygienist at the Gentle Touch?

We are a friendly, professional and caring dental practice in the beautiful market town of Kelso, in the Scottish Borders. Working here as a dental hygienist gives you the chance of a superb quality of life, a role with training and career progression, and to be part of a team who work extremely well together.

Our Dental Hygiene and Therapy team is absolutely central to the care we offer. We believe in a preventative approach to oral health, and all of our adult patients are subscribed to membership plans which include regular hygiene treatments. We aim to provide best-in-class hygiene treatments – Airflow treatments are offered 1-4 times a year for our members. The Gentle Touch has an incredibly stable, loyal patient base which means you’ll get to know your patients over time.

Who would be suited to this role?

This role would be ideal for an experienced Dental Hygienist, and we are also open to newly qualified Dental Hygienists. There are opportunities for fully paid training and career progression – we strongly encourage continuous professional development for all of our clinical team members. The role is fully supported from a clinical perspective with dentists on hand as needed. You will also be assisted by a dental nurse at all times in your role, as well as help from our decontamination nurse.

The role would be suitable for dental hygienists looking for part-time employment. Dental therapists may also be attracted to this position if they enjoy doing mostly hygiene treatments (Airflow, mostly). We have 2-3 days a week available for maternity cover, with 2 days a week on offer long term.

We are looking for friendly, approachable and hardworking colleagues to be part of a team which works extremely well together.

Are your clinic facilities of a high standard?

We invest continually in our practice in Kelso. Our most recent full refurbishment of the practice was completed in early 2023 including new clinics, staff room and office space as well as renovated reception and waiting room. Our aim is to ensure that the clinic space is a light and airy place to work. We also invest strongly in equipment, with our most recent additions including GBT Airflow machines and Invisalign 3D scanners.
